We love Eva Solo products! Sleek, absolutely functional and stylish. Its pouring with rain today, but with the Eva Solo Table Grill, that need not be a problem. Fire up the coals as per usual , and when ready transfer them to the Table Grill, and braai at the table! The stainless steel inner protects the porcelain bowl and the handle makes the whole process a breeze. While you are waiting for the coals, perhaps a nice warming whisky in the Eva Solo Whisky glasses will pass the time. They are hand blown and have the famous Eva Solo ripple pattern on the base.

To complete the braai, the Eva Solo Salad Bowl and Salad Servers are great. We love the ‘spade and fork’ look of the salad servers, and the bowl is a mini version of the Table Grill. We have thrown a Guy Degrenne Slate into the mix, stylish French natural slate, perfect for serving some bread and cheese.

Seems like the old adage of “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” is one that you can’t just dismiss or ignore these days. Social media networking is a way of life, many of us can’t go a day without visiting Facebook, Twitter and now, the VERY addictive Pinterest.

Pinterest allows users to post images found on the web, categorised in Boards, for other users to “follow”. Users click on the image, following the link to the original website, for more information. It could be a recipe, more on decor, or just beautiful photography. The options are almost unlimited.

To get the most out of Pinterest, users are able to link their posts to Facebook and Twitter. A plate of food should always look great, so it makes absolute sense that Chefs Warehouse joins the very visually pleasing world of Pinterest. Follow us at: http://pinterest.com/chefswarehouse/

Lucky Peach Magazine

Monday, June 11th, 2012

Lucky Peach is a magazine created by award winning chef, David Chang, from New York”s Momofuku restaurant. It has been described as a journal of food writing, and is published quarterly. We are lucky to have copies of the second and third issues.

Each issue has a theme, and the theme of the 2nd issue is ‘The Sweet Spot”. This issue features Rene Redzepi, Tajikistani apricots with Adam Gollner and banana pie with Momofuku Milk Bar chef Christina Tosi, plus loads more

Part travelogue, essays, art, photography and RANTS, Lucky Peach is a full colour and meticulously designed magazine. Recipes don’t follow the same old format we are used to, they are laid out ‘sensibly’ and are inspired by the thought process that went into developing them. The aim of Lucky Peach is to give a platform to a brand of writing that began with unorthodox authors like Anthony Bourdain. The publication aims to attract and appeal to die hard foodies, as well as fans of good writing and art in general.

The third issue, with the theme: “The Cooks and Chefs Issue” asks a few pressing questions: What does it mean to be a cook in today’s age of celebrity chefdom? Where is cooking headed? What happens, exactly, when bartenders spank mint? …..

The answers arrive from all over the place, Mario Batali recalls the early days of Food Network; Meredith Erickson spends an afternoon with Fergus Henderson; Naomi Duguid visits street vendors in Chiang Mai. Cooks from Fort Bragg to Paris to the South Pole are questioned. There are recipes for barbecue-chicken pizza and pasta primavera, and Christina Tosi’s upside-down pineapple cake.
